Delaware’s Largest Health Care Event: A Huge Success
Delaware recently witnessed one of the most significant health care events in its history, all thanks to the incredible efforts of the Abundant Life Community Center. On May 29, 2023, the center hosted an extraordinary health care event that made a substantial impact on the community.

Abundant Life Community Center collaborated with over 20 vendors and sponsors to make this event a success, including Labcorp, American Heart Association, Sickle Cell Association, Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, Primary Care Aesthetics, Wilmington Walk-in (Urgent Care), Star Vision Eye Care, Life Work Ministries, State Farm, Giants Food, Costco, Acme, Walmart, and BJs.
These partnerships allowed the event to provide free health screenings, focusing on crucial areas such as blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, comprehensive metabolic panel, prostate cancer screening, glaucoma screening, AIC testing, general vision screening, and mental health counseling. In addition to health services, attendees received clothing, food, and haircuts, ensuring they left not only healthier but also with a boost in their overall well-being. The event reached over 250 individuals in Delaware in a single day, making a profound difference in their lives. Those identified as having a health risk during the screening were offered follow-up care, emphasizing the center’s commitment to the long-term health of the community.
This remarkable event was made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers. Their hard work and passion for community well-being helped minimize social determinants of health (SDOH) for many individuals, by providing a one-stop health care solution. The impact of this event was so substantial that we are excited to announce the next one.
